My studies in Electrical Engineering and Audio Engineering at TU and KUG Graz, combined with my professional work as an acoustics engineer, have led to several tech projects that I’m excited to share here.
Project
Electroluminescent Suit
While studying at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) in Graz and working as a live electronics musician, I embarked on a long-term collaboration with big band leader Monika Roscher. Our goal was to develop a truly unique stage outfit, a project that became my “baby” for several years.
Starting in 2015, I designed and built an electroluminescent suit using a combination of EL wires and LEDs. I wirelessly control the suit from the stage during our song “Starlight Nightcrash.”
When the song begins, the stage lights are cut, and the audience is left with a visually striking scene of the glowing suit and the big band’s illuminated music stands.

I still feel a mix of anticipation and relief every time I launch the first scene. The reward is seeing Monika light up to the music, either as a glowing night sky or a futuristic astronaut.

If you’d like to learn more about how the suit was developed, you can read my project thesis (DE) from 2016 or watch this featurette video.
The suit has been featured in countless Monika Roscher Bigband shows across Europe since its debut in 2016, appearing everywhere from the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg to Jazzbaltica and even once in the Annenkirche, a crazy burnt out church in St. Petersburg.
